ImLive Review (Read Before You Join)

Try Imlive

Founded in 2002, ImLive is a cam site boasting 62 million users and 80,000 registered cam models worldwide. They were an AVN Award Winner in 2011 and 2012 for Best Live Chat Website, and won Best Adult Webcam Company from YNOT Awards in the same years. In 2012, they also won the Live Cam Affiliate Program of the Year Award at the XBIZ Awards.

First Impression

This site offers something different from the get-go. The top two thumbnails are for structured shows or “parties,” offering a different vibe than other sites. From there, users can look for different types of cams, but it quickly becomes clear that this site is geared toward one type of cam model: girls alone, which had over five hundred models online at the time this article was written. All other channels had under a hundred people, except for Fetish and BDSM, which had 128. Their wording with trans* models was an immediate turn off and gave a clue to why this website that used to win awards hasn’t done so in over seven years.

Features

The front page has a dropdown bar that lets users filter their search. In addition to just searching by gender or couples, users can look for shy girls, outdoor cams, and threesomes as well.

ImLive’s most unique feature hands down is the Vibrator Show Mode, where viewers can control a cam models’ vibrator for some credits. This experience lets users get the closest to actually being there with the models, since their direct actions are pleasuring the model in titillating real time.

Another distinguishing feature of ImLive is the special Pornstar Chat where users can buy tickets to interact with a rotating monthly pornstar. For regular cam models, viewers can sign up for Discount Clubs, where they give a set monthly amount to models and get discounted perks, private chats, and private shows in exchange.

ImLive also gives away Treats for special occasions like holidays, promotions, or just when they feel like it. Members can use Treats for a few things:

  • Watching recorded videos from models
  • Enjoying up to six live models at once (called “Full Sex Mode”)
  • Tuning into Pornstar Shows and sending them a tip or a vibrator pulse
  • Exchanging ten Treat Credits for one ImLive Credit

However, Treats don’t offer the same perks for all members: recorded videos aren’t available in Europe, and everything except for the pornstar shows must be watched on a PC.

Pricing and Membership

Discount Clubs are available for certain model for $16.00–$30.00 per month. In exchange, viewers get “VIP treatment and chat for less.” The model gets 40% of the monthly rate.

Like most sites, ImLive has free membership. Signing up makes you an ImLive Member, which also gives you the chance to

  • Look at host profiles and some photos
  • Enjoy free live chats
  • Message hosts
  • Control hosts’ vibrators remotely
  • Attend monthly parties
  • Use emojis
  • Curate your “Favorites” tab and access your recently visited hosts

The more credits users buy, the higher status they reach out of four tiers: Bronze Member, Silver Member, Gold Member, and VIP Member. ImLive claims that “benefits grow” as users climb statuses, but the only perk I could find was that the higher the membership status, the more Treats users received as a bonus when buying ImLive Credits.

Credits are about $1.00 each and sold in multiples of fifty. Chats cost anywhere between one to six credits per minute.

Pros

ImLive offers unique features like the Vibrator Show Mode and the Pornstar Show, which aren’t seen many other places on the web. The Vibrator Show is a unique and erotic chance to get even closer to the cam models than ever.

Cons

Although the rates seem higher, ImLive is known to be exploitative. Models only get 30% of their earnings, and Happy Hour has models only earning $7 for an hour of hard work. Viewers are there for the models and to enjoy quality hard work, not to line the pockets of people running a website. Models often report that when their clients find out their money isn’t going to the models like they’d like, they’re mad.

On top of that, this seems like another site that is really only meant for viewing cisgender, white girls alone. While that’s totally alright to be attracted to, there are many other sexual preferences out there that would love these same kinds of vibrator perks.

As if all that weren’t enough, clients and models alike report being scammed from their money, and their customer service seems to be nonexistent.

Conclusion

While the vibrator show and pornstar options are a huge plus, this website seems like it’s on the decline. Steer clear and listen to others who’ve dealt with ImLive being a scam. They may have been one of the first cam sites, but don’t confuse that with being one of the best.
